An EdgeNode always-on node is a dedicated peer that stays online so your group doesn’t have to.
In a peer-to-peer application, two people need to be online at the same time for data to sync — if one person adds something and goes offline before anyone else appears, the group falls out of sync. An always-on node solves that: it holds a copy of the group’s data and is there whenever anyone else comes back.
This guide takes you from a spare machine to a running node joined to a Moss group.
What you’ll need
- A dedicated machine — a HoloPort, an old laptop, or any spare computer you can leave running on a wired connection
- Keyboard, monitor, HDMI cable
- Moss installed on your everyday computer
